It's with heavy hearts we announce the Dec 29 passing of legendary New Brunswick weaver Enid Marian Inch of Gagetown. Enid was the driving force behind the Loomcrofters, a business which has left its mark on many provincial events and landmarks, including creating the New Brunswick Tartan.
She was with Loomcrofters for approximately 67 years, and took over the management of the business following the passing of Patricia Jenkins. Ms. Inch was 87.
Among her many fibre arts accomplishments, she was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Gagetown. She was also active within the Church of the Good Shepherd, Cambridge, was part of the Queens County Historical Society, the BGCHA, as well as the Gagetown Chamber of Commerce.
Enid is resting at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 3, between 2 and 4 pm and 7 and 9 pm.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Mill Cove Church of God on Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 pm. A reception will be held after the service at the Jemseg Lions Club. Interment will be in the spring.
For those who wish, memorial gifts may be made to the building fund of the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, Cambridge-Narrows, or the NB Lung Association.
I would personally like to say it was because of the dedication, artistry and talent of people like Enid that Needlework New Brunswick was formed. Her inspiration from her vantage point on the St. John River was a shining example of the quality of fibre arts done in the Picture Province. Thank you, Enid, for everything you've done and the example you have made.
