NNB supplies directory now available for download

It's a pleasure to announce a printable form of the Needlework New Brunswick supplies and services directory is now available. This 15-page document strives to provide a comprehensive listing of fibre arts outlets in the province. From raw material and the people who can help you to where to purchase the finished results, it's designed so you spend less time searching and more time stitching!

You'll find the directory at the top of the Supplies and Services page of the Needlework New Brunswick web site, http://needleworknb.tripod.com . Enjoy, and your input, as always, is appreciated.

2007 a banner year for Needlework New Brunswick
2007 has marked an important year for Needlework New Brunswick. With our higher national profile, the number of visitors to the web site at the end of December is more than three times what it was this summer! Thank you to all fibre artists and supporters for helping spread the word of our group and its activities.
Some of the highlights of this year are our having donated dozens of handknit hats to children in need, and provided colourful banners to several New Brunswick community groups. Our banner efforts even helped the Canadian Equestrian team to a silver finish at this year's Pan Am Games in Brazil, as the cloth symbol of encouragement hung in the Canadian stables during the entire event.
Also, we are pleased to work with a growing variety of regional organizations, welcoming newcomers such as Kings Landing Historical Settlement aboard! We look forward to a lasting and successful time working together.
In 2008, we will be sponsoring two awards at North America's longest running agricultural fair. Needlework New Brunswick is proud to salute the fibre artist who submits the most needlework entries and another for the person who earns the most points for fibre arts at the 111th version of the Kings County Agricultural Fair in Sussex, Aug. 19-21.

Welcome to the Clothesline!

Hi there!

Welcome to the Needlework New Brunswick blog, the Clothesline. Here, I'll be talking about some of the fun and exciting happenings in Atlantic Canada's fibre arts community.

The name, The Clothesline, reflects Maritime fibre arts in so many ways. How many freshly dyed yarns and fabrics get their first public appearance hanging from a clothesline? Favourite sweaters, grandmother's glorious antique quilt, and the weekly laundry all take their turn in the sun according to the day and the season. There is something neighbourly about them. So, stop by regularly for a chat and a cuppa. It's where the best fibre artists hang out!
